Bergtagna Chimes: Alcazaba

The Bergtagna Chimes “Alcazaba” is an 8 note Chimes/Tubular Bells instrument built in 2024, in the Bergtagna Instruments Workshop in Svensköp, Sweden.
The instrument stand can easily be assembled in a standing position, or lying down for increased playability.

The name comes from the mountain “Alcazaba” in Andalucía, Spain. With an elevation of 3369m it is the third highest mountain in Sierra Nevada. It is said to be one of the loneliest peaks of the mountain range. On one route of the ascents/descents one passes the valley of “Siete Lagunas” at the foothill of “Mulhacén” the highest peak of the Iberian peninsula.

It is tuned in the scale of C-Phrygian Dominant with the notes:
C – Db – E – F – G – Ab – Bb – c

It is tuned using equal temperament, with A=440Hz.
